Wool and Fleece

This year we processed our first fleece at AgResearch. We had all our fawn fleece processed and it has come back a beautiful fawn coloured. The fleece is 8 ply and knits up very easily. It leaves your hands extremely soft. Just a wonderful wool to work with. It is also 100% alpaca wool. You lose a bit more going to this extreme but it is well worth the effort.

We have all heard about the properties of alpaca fleece,it is very light, but extremely warm. It does not have the prickle factor of other wools and it simply does not compare with synthetic wools. It may cost more at the outset but you will have a garment that will last much longer. So choose a design that will not date and let your fingers knit or crochet a garment to remember.

I first came across alpaca wool over 20 years ago and knitted my husband a cardigan and a sweater. They served him well for nearly 20 years.
